 About Nina
I do not fit in a box.

I bring my drive, commitment, international mindset and my boundless-spirit into everything I do.

I am not put-off by challenges. I am fuelled by "Yes, I can do it!" attitude. I look up to people who are brave. I am energised by visionaries.

It is my personal mission to make the spirit of entrepreneurialism contagious amongst women. I would like to stimulate confidence and more gender diversity in entrepreneurship. I do this through my work as a business mentor for female entrepreneurs in start-ups and scale-ups in The Netherlands and also in Malaysia.

I am the founder of 2 companies: Riddhi and Advatar Asia. I am excited about breaking new grounds and starting new ventures from scratch. The daughter of an ex-army officer turned entrepreneur, I was raised with the deep understanding of the importance of self-discipline. By genetic lottery, entrepreneurialism is deeply entrenched in my DNA.

In 2012, I was the only female CEO amongst the 10 chosen start-ups in Rockstart Accelerator Programme in Amsterdam. My team was an "East-meet-West",  Malaysians and Latvians.  I believe different cultures can learn from and strengthen each other. Together we are stronger!

My journey in the technology, internet, media and entertainment sectors started in 1999. Since, I have worked on various projects in almost 40 countries. I have worked extensively on growth, business turn-around, revenue generations, operational go-to-market, licensing, management buy-out, strategic alliances, joint ventures, partnerships and launches of new businesses. I have worked for multinationals as an employee as well as a consultant for companies like Bertelsmann and Philips Consumer Electronics, start-ups like Grey Juice Lab and Syqic Capital, scale-up such as Babyccino Kids,  private investors, humanistic foundation such as Mars One and also governmental organisation such as Holland Gateway, the world's first government-led international business hub.

Through the years, I have built an extensive network of contacts in the media, TV and broadcasting industry especially in Europe, Middle East, APAC and the USA.

To contribute to the South East Asian (my origin) business eco-system, I served as Jury Member for the Rice Bowl Start-Up Awards for start-ups in South East Asia in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Start-ups such as Grab Car and Iflix were amongst the chosen start-ups awarded in those years.

I am writing a book about personal growth through unexpected events in life, called "Gifted for Adversity" (working title). The book provides the general principles of resilience building as well as learnings through my personal experience as a mother of a daughter with a rare genetic mutation called Trip12. To create awareness and champion the cause  for Trip12, I serve as an active member in the Trip12 Global Committee.

A world-citizen with a Malaysian passport. I speak 5 languages. I currently live in Amsterdam with my French husband and two daughters.

Nota bene: If you ask my friends to say something about me, they would probably say Nina cooks all the time!
